About Our Logo . . .
Retrieving is Paramount
The retrievers are sporting dogs. They are bred by man and
designed by God to retrieve. These dogs are not complete
without a job, preferably one that involves doing what they were
built for.
Our logo dog is moving
The dog is shown fully engaged, applying
himself, and actively expressing his natural and trained
abilities.
Use
of pattern speeds learning and retention
The square in the background
represents our use of patterns throughout a dog’s training.
Research has repeatedly shown that both the speed of learning
and retention of new material are increased when information
is presented in a known format or pattern.
Repetition is essential to learning
We repeat the squares to show the
importance of repetition and review in learning. In dog
training, few lessons are learned and almost no skills are
mastered without repetition. Regular review is the best way to
move new lessons from short- to long-term memory.
Training builds on past lessons and lays the foundation for
the next
The squares are built in layers
from left to right. Shown in silhouette, the logo squares are
first single bordered, then double and finally triple
bordered. In the color version, the squares become
progressively darker. This progression represents the idea
that each training lesson lays the foundation for the next and
rests on the previous.
Continuity, consistency, and fairness are the pillars of our
approach
We have three squares, one for
each of our three core training precepts: Continuity,
Consistency, and Fairness.
Progress and continual skill development are the results
Both the dog and squares are oriented
from left to right, representing the dog’s progress in
training and continual skill development from the basic to the
advanced.
Thanks to everyone in the training group
that helped in the design process. Special thanks to Kristen
Hoffman, of Heron Hawk Kennels, Bumpass, VA for drawing our
logo. |
